Robert Mueller, the special counsel appointed to oversee the investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, has impaneled a grand jury in Washington, D.C., a clear indication that the investigation may in fact be yielding actual fruit and moving full-speed ahead.

Daniel Coats, Director of National Intelligence, told associates in March that Donald Trump asked him to intervene with then-FBI Director James Comey and get him to have the bureau back off of its investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn and his ties to Russia.

The Washington Post is reporting that in his capacity as president, Donald Trump reportedly asked two high-ranking national intelligence officials in March to help him push back against the FBI investigation into possible connections between his presidential campaign and the Russian government.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein signed an order Wednesday appointing former FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III as special counsel to oversee the ongoing investigation into whether or not Trump associates and Russian officials coordinated last year to interfere in the U.S. Presidential Election.
