I wrote a commentary on The Root about the Justice Department’s decision to go after affirmative action admissions at colleges and universities, and how this is the long-con that will lead us to a return of Jim Crow.
Since his inauguration, Trump, and those in his administration, have shown that they mean to make good on their promise to bring white supremacy back to the forefront. Every policy decision is cloaked—and coded—in the dismantling of everything that has helped give marginalized people even the smallest leg up in a society that is stacked against them in the first place.

My money is on new White House Chief of Staff John Kelly. From my latest commentary on The Root:
Although Jeff Sessions has done everything in his power to prove he is still loyal to the head diva in charge, Trump still did talking heads and Twitter threads hinting that he wants him gone. Your president does not appreciate backstabbing and wavering fealty, which is why I am worried that the next person to be kicked out of the house, if not Sessions, will be new Chief of Staff John Kelly.

Where are your president’s handlers when he needs them? Does he even have handlers? Is there anyone in the White House that is in charge of making sure he doesn’t say stupid stuff to the media he is so critical of? Apparently not, because this latest thing is a doozy.

The Justice Department announced on Wednesday that it will be restarting the controversial “adoptive forfeiture” program, which allows local police departments and law enforcement agencies to seize the property of people suspected of a crime, even if they haven’t been charged with or convicted of one.

Cedric L. Richmond, Democratic Representative from New Orleans and chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, wrote a three-page letter Wednesday to Donald Trump declining his invitation to meet with the CBC and outlining the many reasons why the group as a whole is saying no.

Rumor has it that U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has had about enough of your president, and he’s threatening to quit his job and go back to Alabama where he doesn’t have to put up with shit like this. My fingers are crossed that this is indeed happening so that we don’t have to put up with anymore of Jeff Sessions’ bullshit either. It’s way past time for him to go.
